It gives me immense pleasure to introduce the 8th edition of “Global Automotive Safety Regulations in Nutshell (SIAT 2026 – Special Edition)”, a joint effort of Wissen Baum Engineering Solutions and ARAI for the global automotive community.

Building on the overwhelming response to the 2024 edition, this edition addresses recent advancements in automotive safety, including crash avoidance systems (FCW, LDW, AEB), occupant and vulnerable road user protection, vehicle connectivity (V2X, OTA), and in-vehicle cybersecurity.

Recent developments such as Bharat NCAP have simplified safety awareness for Indian customers through star ratings, while global NCAP programs continue to enhance crash-avoidance and occupant protection methodologies. New test protocols, advanced dummies, and pedestrian protection tools reflect the industry’s focus on biofidelity and real-world safety outcomes.

My sincere thanks to Dr. Reji Mathai (Director – ARAI) for his irrefutable contribution and leadership behind this joint effort. I am grateful to Dr. Walke, Convener – SIAT 2026, for selecting this book for the SIAT delegate kit as a ready reckoner for automotive professionals worldwide.
